How Otto’s Garage Door Came to Lewisville

We didn’t pick Lewisville on a map. We picked it because Otto Reinhardt kept getting calls from this side of town, and every call sounded the same. A homeowner would open with an apology: “I know you’re probably booked solid, but my door’s stuck and I’ve already called two places.” Then they’d tell us the quote they got, and it was always too high for the job they were describing. Always. A simple cable replacement quoted like a full door rebuild. A fifteen-minute limit adjustment quoted like a spring change. After enough of those calls, Otto drove out here one Saturday, spent the morning at a coffee shop off Main Street watching service trucks come and go, and decided Lewisville deserved better than what it was getting. We opened our local branch to serve Lewisville, The Colony, and the surrounding Lake Cities area with one rule: quote the job that’s actually in front of you, and stand behind the number on the phone when you get to the driveway. That’s the whole reason we’re here.

Otto Reinhardt’s Personal Connection to the Garage Door Trade

Most people don’t think about a garage door until it refuses to move. Otto thinks about them constantly, and that started long before he ever put his name on a truck. He got into this trade the way a lot of people get into a trade that chooses them: he fixed something, then he fixed another one, then he couldn’t stop noticing every door he passed. You start seeing the tilt of a panel, the sag in a track, the way a door stutters on the way up. It becomes a language. And once you speak it, you can’t unhear it.

What hooked him was the physics. A garage door is a simple machine, but a deceptively serious one. Two hundred pounds of steel riding on a pair of coiled springs under tension you don’t play with. A door is 200 pounds riding on two springs. Respect it. There’s something honest about work where the problem is visible and the fix is measurable. You can count spring cycles the way you count tire miles, and a door tells you exactly what’s left on it if you know how to listen. Otto learned to listen, then spent years learning why doors fail the way they do in North Texas specifically. The heat dries out bearings. The clay soil shifts and settles, knocking tracks out of square. Storms roll in off the lake and rust hardware faster than the manufacturer ever planned for. None of that was in a manual. It came from showing up, opening doors, and paying attention.

He’s been at this over twenty years now, and the part that still gets him out of bed is the part nobody sees in a quote: the look on a homeowner’s face when their door works again and they realize they don’t have to worry about it. Not the money, not the compliment. Just that. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably be restoring something with an engine. Same instinct: take it apart, find what’s worn, make it run like it should.

Meet Otto Reinhardt - The Person Behind Every Job

Otto Reinhardt is the Owner & Founder of Otto’s Garage Door, and he’s been putting his name on garage door work since 2004. He is state-licensed and insured, and every job we do carries his name in a literal sense: the van says Otto, the guarantee says Otto, and the workmanship standard traces back to him. You won’t find corporate franchise polish here. You’ll find a person who answers the phone, shows up in work boots, and tells you the truth about what your door needs and what it doesn’t. When he’s not under a door or behind the wheel, he’s usually in his workshop, fixing something that other people gave up on. That’s not a hobby. That’s how he’s built. And it’s exactly the kind of person you want deciding whether your spring has cycles left or your opener is actually fine. We stand behind every job he puts his name on because he personally can’t stand it any other way.

Our Promise to Lewisville Homeowners

We operate by a code we call L.O.C.A.L., and it’s not a slogan. It’s five rules we don’t break. Local roots means we have an address in this county, not a call center three states away. On time means the window we give you is the window, and we call if it slips. Community first means we hire here, we buy here, and we support the teams here. Accountable means the owner answers the phone and puts his name on the work. Loyal means we’d rather keep you for twenty years than win one big ticket. The way that shows up in practice is simple: we quote the job before we start it, the price we quote is the price you pay, and when we tell you something needs replacing, we show you why. If a part has life left in it, we tell you that too. We’ve walked away from jobs that didn’t need doing, and we’d do it again tomorrow.

Our Credentials

  • State-Licensed: Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. No exceptions.
  • Insured & Bonded: Every pro working under our name is required to carry the insurance their state requires. No exceptions.
  • Heritage Since 2004: The Otto’s Garage Door standard has been building trust in local communities for over two decades.
  • Local Reputation: Our standing in the Lewisville area is built one door at a time, neighbor to neighbor, without shortcuts.

When you invite someone to work on your home, credentials aren’t paperwork. They’re the difference between a contractor who stands behind a mistake and a stranger who vanishes. That’s why we require the license and insurance up front, and why we put the Otto name on every van, every quote, and every door we touch. You should know exactly who you’re dealing with before we step onto your property, and you should never have to ask twice.

Rooted in Lewisville

You’ll find us out and about on Saturdays, not because it’s good marketing but because we live here. We know the neighborhoods from Castle Hills to Old Town, out toward Lake Dallas and across to The Colony. We buy lumber at the same hardware stores you do. We wave at the same traffic light. That means we treat your door like it’s on our own street, because in a town this size, it might as well be.
